ABOUT  THE  WEBSITE
|
|
This website is purely for fun.  It is a collection of stories that have been collected from airline employees detailing some of the funny, embarrassing and sometimes idiotic things that have happened through the years.  It is primarily meant for other airline employees who can relate to the strange events that have happened to others in our industry.  As a result, I am looking for stories to be written just as you would tell your fellow employees in the break room or driving along at altitude.  It is definitely not just for Pilots and Flight Attendants but for all of the airline employees across our nation.  I am a pilot, but I have heard many stories from gate agents, mechanics, baggage handlers and utility people.  I want to include your stories too.
Through the years, I have had many funny experiences – most of them with a happy ending.  I have also spent countless hours in the various breakrooms across my airlines listening to others tell of their experiences.  It finally dawned on me that it would be fun to share my experiences and those of others with ALL the airline employees.  The Web provided a forum that would allow most everyone free access to view the collection and provide a means to contribute their own experiences.
I acquired the domain name
funnyairlinestories.com
and created the website on January 7, 2004.  My son, Brian North has been the primary source of assistance in creating the website.  With his help, the site has evolved into what it is today and is updated most everyday that I am not off flying the airways.
I do hope that you enjoy the stories and the rest of the website.  I would appreciate any contributions of stories or other material that you can send in to allow the site to grow.  Also I am very receptive to any suggestions as to other things that can be done to improve the site and make it more readable and attractive to everyone.
Note:  Even though it has been suggested by many that I write a book, it is not a current consideration.  For those of you who might be concerned, your sending in a story gives me license to put it on this website.  It does not give me any license to publish it in any other way.
IN THE FUTURE
I will add color to the Filter buttons in the Stories section
I will add drop down boxes to the Send Stories Section to minimize typing in Airline, Airplane and Position information.
POSSIBILITIES
I am considering adding a cookie so that your computer will remember what stories you have viewed and allow you to only visit those stories that you have not seen before.
I may add a guest book so that viewers can add their comments to be viewed by all.
I am considering adding an audio capability for at least one Flight Attendant who has a wonderful voice and an incredible number of hilarious stories.
I am also considering a rating system for input by members. Then all the stories that have at least 5 votes will have their rating listed next to the title.
If you have any suggestions or comments, please email me at
info@funnyairlinestories.com.
