The Clearance Was Timely
I had just upgraded to the right seat and was making my first approach into O’hare. There was an aircraft cleared for takeoff in front of us and spacing was kind of tight. I was considering the possibility of a go-around. As we got closer, the Tower finally said: “Braniff, when Delta breaks ground, you are cleared to land.” We were in the flare as he started to rotate. I saw him lift off and we touched down. My Captain said: “Welcome to Chicago son.”
