Checking on a Dog in the Cargo Bin
During the ground time of a through flight, a lady passenger asked if I could please check on her dog who was in the cargo bin. Security on the ramp was not a major issue back then, so I told her to follow me as I led her down the jetway stairs and over to the forward cargo bin. No baggage handlers were around so I proceeded to open the door. As the door was swinging open, I had a terrible thought. What if the dog is frozen solid. I would die on the spot. Thankfully the dog was fine, but I learned to not get too carried away by walking into a potential disaster.
