Get the New One Will You
I had been on the job for over a year. Before top of descent, I listened to the ATIS, completed the landing card and passed it up to the guys flying. About 15 minutes later, my Captain asked me to get the new ATIS. Puzzled, I listened in and was amazed that it had just changed. How did he know? I should have kept my mouth shut, but I made the mistake of asking how he knew that it had changed. He said: “You’re kidding right?” I told him I didn’t know. Then he explains that the ATIS is changed every 10 minutes before every hour. Made sense. I was beginning to understand just how many things there were about this job that I didn’t know.
