Captain Jumps Ship
We arrived back at home base in Minneapolis and were focused on one thing only, getting to the crew bus stop and heading home. The jetway driver had not shown up so we called Operations. Minutes went by, and the Captain was starting to fume. All of a sudden, he snapped – yanked up the sliding glass window, threw the escape strap out, climbed out the window and slid to the ground. The Flight Engineer and I were both in a state of shock then I looked into the Departure Lounge and realized that the onlooking prospective passengers probably thought we were on fire. The Chief Pilot took a dim view.
