Broken Out of the Pattern
I was on the localizer to 26R in ATL and just about to intercept the glide slope when Approach said that we were too close. He said for us to maintain our altitude and turn right to 360º. This was before TCAS, so I inquired how close we got to the guy in front. Approach said that wasn’t the problem, the guy behind us had a 30 knot overtake on us and was getting too close. I said: "Let me get this straight, you broke us out for a guy behind us." Approach said: "Oops, I realize how this looks – Sorry."
